Bosa
Karrasegare Osinku
February 24 March 12, 2011
The traditions and popular culture Bosa, both civil and religious, offer visitors moments of great charm. The first event of the year is the Carnival characterized by satire and grotesque taste that attracts many curious visitors.
The Carnival here, as in many other places of Sardinia, is very sensitive , involves the whole community and retains the character of party spontaneous unorganized.
The festivities begin a week before Carnival Thursday, when bright begging groups are roaming the streets of the old singing satirical songs in exchange for gifts and food.
But the party comes alive in the last four days that protagonists two forms: "s'attitadora", a kind of mourner dressed in mourning, who sings dirges in the morning argument with satirical and explicit sexual innuendo, and "giolzi", coming in at night and running from the scene side to side capture the audience and other ritually Giolzi and illuminate their genitals with allusive phrases.
Carnival Bosa is undoubtedly one of the most exciting festivals , hilarious and transgressive of Sardinia.
masks traditional
S'attitadora " represents" s'attitidu ( dirge ). A woman dressed in mourning simulates a lament funeral, spiced with satire and clear sexual innuendo, which is the request of a "drop of milk" (unu ticchirigheddu 'and milk ") for the doll that brings with it, or the daughter, who, neglected by his mother during the night of carnival revelry, he needs to suck . |
|
The doll is also the pretext for the construction of sexual allegories with the performance of grotesque genital organs with improvised forms of bread, fruit and vegetables (particularly "s'aligalza" a big turnip that is carved according to the imagination of the exhibits). |
|
To make the mask is worn by a widow traditional clothing: black skirt and shawl and scarf strictly blacks. The is face blackened with soot cork. |
|
Gioldzi " is the mask of darkness . At sunset the Gioldzi wear white with a sheet to coat and hat for a pillow. The masks are chase shouting "Gioldzi! Gioldzi!" to capture the audience and the other Giolzi that are lit with streetlights (sas pischeddas ") as if searching for something hidden under the skirts : in this case the writer has clear sexual innuendo . |
|
end of the carnival is marked by numerous night bonfires on which they burn puppets.

It 's the most famous Sardinian traditional festival and attracts thousands of people. Introduced, it seems, in 1350 by Mariano II to celebrate the marriage with the daughter of the head of the fleet of Pisa,
game consists of a English derivation , borrowed from the Moors (English "sartija" means "ring" in Sardinian and "star" or "witchcraft"), also in the rest of 'Italy, in fact between the I and the Third Crusade, spread this type of race (eg, the "Race of the Saracens" in Arezzo, the "Palio" of Siena). |
The February 2, the day of Candlemas (Purification of the Virgin Mary) the Sartiglia starts with decisive choice of running head (up Componidori , the head of componedor srtija English ): if galloping able to put a star with a sword hanging by a thread in the middle of the road, the harvest will be plentiful. |
the last Sunday of Carnival, race day, beginning the long ritual of dressing : at noon the "Componidori" is conducted in the selected area, closed in the back and opened the front so that the crowd gathered to the attend the ceremony. |
The women sew clothes on male a white shirt without buttons, while the face of "componidori" is wrapped in white bandages, and only then "knows manna housewife" covers it with an enigmatic female mask and head rests on a bridal veil and black top hat. The knight is now half woman (upper body) and half man . became androgynous, the "Componidori" is hoisted on his horse and showed the crowd with a bouquet of violets and periwinkles ("sa pippia de capitals": the child in May), the symbol of the forthcoming spring, which bless the crowd. |
In procession, with the other riders who wear the same mask of a woman, the Componidori reaches the place of race . At a given signal will galloping along the road to the archbishop and the cathedral and |
in full swing put the sword into the tiny hole at the center of the star hung by a thread. Having completed the firm will return to the crowd showing the trophy. The other knights will imitate the deeds, but the symbolic value will not be the same. Accompanied by a cheering crowd or ingiuriante (depending on the outcome of the trial), |
at this point, the procession will head beyond the city walls, where masked riders of the following, arranged in pairs is perform in daring displays of agility. Games equestrian broke off at sunset at a sign of "Componidori" and the follow the parade back to the Cathedral. |
Here " Componidori " to bless the crowd one last time crying "annus Atterus Melluso" (Better than other years).
The parade starts to bring the "Componidori" the place where the women ritually undressing to proceed, the presence of a few close friends. The spell is over and "Componidori on" back to being just a man . |
